Maxime Crotet, a producer hailing from Burgundy who worked under Frederic Cossard, one of Burgundy’s most revered natural wine producers. Currently sourcing grapes from Burgundy, Jura, Alsace and Vaucluse, he picks his grapes much earlier than organic growers would normally expect, thus keeping the harvested grapes fresh and vibrant. Keeping his winemaking as natural as possible, this syrah is delightfully juicy and bright, with the signature peppery notes so known to Syrah.
Looking for something more punchy? Place of Changing Winds No 2 Syrah will do just that, enveloping your palate with its deep and plummy fruits, violet and chocolate notes and nebbiolo-like tannins. Punching well above its weight, this syrah is like no other Australian shiraz you’ve ever had.
Located in Heathcote in Central Victoria, Australia, Place of Changing Winds is taking Australian shiraz to greater heights by incorporating more of a European method to their farming, planting vines at high densities - between 12,000 to 33,000 vines per hectare and managed intensely by hand. The results yield less than 250 grams per vine, but the volumes on a per hectare basis are still economic because of the extremely high vine density.
