Antoine Petitprez is a Burgundy-based vigneron and biodynamics consultant, trained as an agricultural engineer and originally from the Yonne/Chablis area. His early research on “the influence of the moon on vines and wine” shaped a career focused on living systems and precision farming. He teaches at the Ecole Viticole de Beaune, lives in Pommard, and built experience across regions (including California, Canada, Roussillon, Savoie and Nuits-Saint-Georges). After first growing biodynamic vines in Savoie (near the Bauges massif), he returned to Burgundy, where he farms around 2 hectares biodynamically and—through partnerships and exchanges of consulting work—accesses small quantities of high-quality organic/biodynamic grapes from sought-after plots.
In the cellar (a discreet space in the heart of Pommard), Petitprez is ultra minimalist and patient: manual harvesting, frequent whole-cluster work, spontaneous fermentations, gentle extraction, and long élevage (about 18–22 months) in old barrels, with no fining, filtration, additives, or added sulphur. His aim is to intervene as little as possible so each site can speak clearly, producing wines often described as light and elegant yet deeply concentrated, energetic, and terroir-driven. With very small production and a low-key approach to marketing, much of his wine goes directly to top restaurants in France, while his reputation continues to grow among Burgundy’s natural-wine insiders.
