As a leading fine wine agent in Burgundy, Fabien Duperray represents prestigious wineries like DRC, Arnaud Ente, and Coche-Dury. In 2007, he purchased ancient Gamay vineyards in Fleurie and Moulin-a-Vent, and in 2014, he acquired Chardonnay parcels in Cote Maconnais. Using biodynamic farming and low yields, he aims to produce balanced, age-worthy wines, earning a cult following and critical acclaim.
Fabien, confident in his methods, named his domaine 'Jules Desjourneys' after the late Beaujolais vigneron Jules Chauvet and for the appealing sound of the name. He has innovated with 200L and 500L glass fermenters, moving away from oak barrels to enhance terroir expression.
His reds come from Chenas, Fleurie, and Moulin-a-Vent, with some parcels bottled separately. Starting with the 2015 vintage, he phased out oak in favor of steel and glass. His whites, from Macon-Verze, St-Veran, and three Pouilly appellations, are mainly tank-fermented, with some exceptions using the "Coche method."
These wines, built for long-term aging, are also highly drinkable, placing the domaine among the top Beaujolais and Cote Maconnais producers.
