Abandoning her music studies after an internship at a winery in Pfalz (Germany), Julia Casado returned to Spain to study Oenology and after working with a number of local wineries, she started making her first vintage in 2015 in the celler of Casa Castillo. In 2016, Julia moved her operation out of the winery at Casa Castillo, building her own winery from modular units and railway sleepers in the small appellation of Bullas. She has produced her wine there since. Julia tends to 50-year-old bush vines, situated on sandy loam soil in three different villages in the north-west region of Murcia: Moratalla, Cehegín and Bullas. Covering a total of 4.5 hectares - all of them are from 800 - 1.200 meters above sea level. La del Terreno roughly translates to “the local one.” Julia chose the name as a nod to her roots in the region.
