TASTING NOTE
Very playful and almost fully expressive right out of the bottle with sweet cherries aromatic, touch of herbs and earth complexity. The juicy red fruits are also reflecting on the palate with well integrated tannin. Super drinkable now with decent depth and structure to give it a nice definition. This is a great entry for wine drinkers who would like to give Pinot Noir a try. - DC
Site(s):
A blend of Pinot Noir from Little Cathedral Farm in Upper Goulburn (60%) and Mrs Nicks Vineyard in Balnarring on the Mornington Peninsula (40%)
Vintage notes:
2020 was one of the coolest and latest seasons in the last decade. Very small yields made sure everything ripened well, in the end!
Vineyard notes
Little Cathedral Farm sits at 350m elevation at the foot of the Cathedral range. The vines were planted in 1998 on 400 million-year-old sandstone and shale. Mrs Nicks is planted on red volcanic soils at 70m elevation.
Winemaking:
All of the fruit was destemmed and not crushed. Native yeast ferment in wooden and stainless steel vats without temperature control. There were no punch-downs or pump-overs and no additions. The must was pressed after 30 days and then aged in stainless steel. A small SO2 addition was made and the wine filtered just prior to bottling.
