### Terroir:
Puligny-Montrachet is renowned as the epitome of nobility and elegance in all of Burgundy, with the Grand Cru vineyard Montrachet leading the way as the pinnacle of Chardonnay expression. The wines exhibit a golden hue and exude aromas of hawthorn flowers, almond paste, hazelnuts, amber, lemongrass, and green apple, interwoven with hints of fresh butter and minerality. The structure is harmoniously balanced, with an elegant and focused concentration.
### Winemaking:
Although many of Alvina's grapes come from family holdings, her wines are distinctly different from those of her predecessors, showcasing a brighter profile. She prefers to select grapes from higher altitude vineyards and earlier harvests, paying meticulous attention to winemaking details. She employs gentle pressing techniques (traditional vertical press) and uses a lower percentage of new oak barrels (primarily one- to four-year-old barrels). The wine typically undergoes about 11 months of lees aging, enhancing its richness. Consequently, her wines possess remarkable tension and structure, being both precise and elegant.
"La Jaquelotte" is part of the Premier Cru vineyard Champ Canet. In reality, Champ Canet consists of three plots, with the largest being the eponymous Champ Canet. Two smaller adjacent plots are separated by a hedgerow, one of which is "La Jaquelotte." Only two winegrowers own this plot, but only the Pernot family bottles it under this name. The wine features a slight hint of candied fruit, with notes of orange blossom and grapefruit, offering a rich palate while maintaining a delightful freshness.
