Jerome Castagnier gracefully assumed the helm of his family domaine following his father Guy's retirement in 2007. Prior to this role, Jerome's life unfolded in a different rhythm, as a professional trumpeter whose melodies graced the ears of heads of state. Today, he seamlessly divides his time between directing Domaine Castagnier's winemaking endeavors and conducting a respected Burgundy-based orchestra.
The domaine's newfound success can be attributed to Jerome's artful utilization of the exceptional vineyards assembled by his maternal grandfather, Gilbert Vadey. Post-World War II, Gilbert acquired numerous well-sited parcels in the Cote de Nuits, laying the foundation for excellence. The domaine boasts Grand Cru vineyards in esteemed appellations such as Clos de la Roche, Clos-St-Denis, Charmes-Chambertin, and Clos Vougeot. Additionally, charming village wines from Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-St-Denis, and Chambolle-Musigny grace their portfolio, many deriving from venerable old vines. Furthermore, Jerome's negociant arm meticulously bottles some exquisite whites.
Under Jerome's stewardship, the quality of Domaine Jerome Chezeaux has soared, making it a compelling choice for Burgundy enthusiasts. The domaine's offerings are not only of exceptional quality but are also offered at very reasonable prices, making them a must-consider for discerning palates seeking value and excellence.
