Pierre Duroche is one of Burgundy's most exciting young winemakers. His classically styled wines reflect the domaine's exceptional terroirs and his wines are often available in only tiny quantities, driving demand further. His prime vineyard holdings include four grands crus (Clos de Beze, Griotte-Chambertin, Latricieres-Chambertin, and Charmes-Chambertin), four premiers crus, plus a benchmark range of villages red Burgundy, all of which are farmed under organic principles. Pierre is the fifth generation to work the vines at Domaine Duroche, taking over from his father in 2007. While he hasn't made huge style changes, his winemaking is sensitively applied and everything, from hand harvesting to minimal oak, is done to allow the grapes to reveal their purest form. He keeps his yields small and some of his cuvees are tiny, especially his brilliant Griotte-Chambertin. With each vintage, the domaine's reputation flourishes further, and demand for Pierre's delicious Gevrey-Chambertins grows.
